FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
VisiComp Launches Java Visualization Tool; Enables Developers to View Data Structures in RunTime
SANTA CRUZ, CA, (February 7, 2000) ÐVisiComp Inc., a new developer of Java tools, announced that its software visualization tool, VisiComp 1.0, is now available. VisiComp 1.0 enables Java developers to actually view the structures of programs as they evolve on the screen in runtime.
Using VisiComp 1.0, programmers are able to see the relationship between run time objects Ð the instances of the classes that the program creates, maintains and manipulates Ð while the program is running. Having the ability to see the program as it runs enables programmers easily to track down bugs, uncover memory leaks, verify correct functionality and test program integrity. It can also be used to decipher inherited Java code.
ãAs a Java developer, I wanted to produce a product that would help engineers to verify that their programsâ behavior matches the conceptual diagrams they drew on their white boards before they began coding,ä said Ronald Hughes, VisiCompâs founder and CEO. ãVisiComp 1.0 provides Java developers with a quick and easy way to obtain a deeper understanding of program functionality, thereby improving software quality.ä
Written in Java, VisiComp employs a sharp, easy-to-use graphical interface with field values being displayed and updated automatically. With configurable scaling and filtering features, programmers have control over the display of objects and variables.
Pricing and Availability
VisiComp 1.0 is available for purchase from VisiCompâs web site for $495.00 per copy. The purchase price includes one year of free upgrades and email technical support. A demo of the product is also available from the companyâs web site: www.visicomp.com.
About Java Software Visualization
Software visualization is the dynamic rendering of graphic illustrations that show the inner workings of the program under observation. Software visualization is a powerful tool for software archaeology because engineers can see what inherited legacy code is doing while it is running.
