VisiComp Introduces Software Visualization Tool at JavaOne
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, (June 15, 1999) -VisiComp Inc. today announced it has created a Java visualization tool that enables Java developers to actually view the structures of programs as they evolve on the screen in run-time. Unlike class browsers that merely display the static relationship between the various pieces of code, VisiComp 1.0 is a true object browser.
Using VisiComp programmers are able to see the relationship between run time objects - the instances of the classes that the program creates, maintains and manipulates - while the program is running. Having the ability to see the program as it runs enables programmers to easily track down bugs, uncover memory leaks, verify correct functionality and test program integrity. It can also be used to decipher inherited Java code.
"VisiComp is more than a debugger or class browser. It provides Java developers with a means by which they can quickly and easily obtain a deeper understanding of program functionality, thereby improving software quality," said Ronald Hughes, VisiComp's founder and CEO. "As a Java developer I wanted to produce a product that would help engineers to verify that their programs' behavior matches the conceptual diagrams they drew on their white boards before they began coding."
Written in Java, VisiComp employs a sharp, easy-to-use graphical interface with fields being updated automatically as the program is running. With configurable scaling and filtering features, programmers have complete control over the display of objects and variables.
VisiComp is unveiling VisiComp 1.0 at this year's JavaOne. VisiComp will be in Booth #1005 in the Java Pavilion located in the South Hall. JavaOne is held in San Francisco, June 15 -18.
Pricing and Availability
VisiComp 1.0 will be available in July for purchase directly from VisiComp's corporate web site for $495.00 per copy. The purchase price of the product includes one year of email technical support and free upgrades. The company is located in the Santa Cruz, CA area and can be reached on the Internet at: http://www.visicomp.com.
