VisiComp Announces Total Recall Debugger at JavaOne 2002

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (March 22, 2002) - VisiComp, Inc., maker of innovative software development tools, today announced their new product: RetroVue, the Total Recall Debugger. They will be demonstrating RetroVue at this years JavaOne Conference at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

RetroVue is the newest product from VisiComp, Inc., which made a splash at last years JavaOne when their award-winning runtime software visualization technology, VisiVue, was introduced by Java creator James Gosling during his keynote presentation.

"Today, conventional debuggers are functionally equivalent to their ancestors from thirty years ago", said VisiComp founder and CEO Ronald Hughes. "RetroVue is the first of a new generation of runtime tools that make use of todays processing power to reveal the dynamic inner workings of complex object oriented programs."

RetroVue provides software managers with a tool that enhances group collaboration, enables shorter development cycles and results in cleaner code. With RetroVues unique journaling capability engineers can easily share and repeatedly replay actual executions of elusive bugs.

Unlike conventional debuggers, RetroVue remembers every single operation executed by a program since it began, allowing unprecedented insight into how a program got into its current state. "For example", says Hughes, "RetroVue actually allows a Java developer to search backwards in time to find each and every modification that has occurred to a given variable. He or she can even roll back the clock to any chosen moment in the past and see the state of the entire program as it was at that instant, including threads, locks, invocation frames, objects, references, variables, etc. No other debugger gives a developer this kind of power to track down software defects."

VisiComp will be demonstrating RetroVue at their booth (#1226) in the JavaOne Pavilion, as well as at a Birds-of-a-Feather session on Tuesday, March 26 at 7:00pm in the Sheraton Palace Hotel.
